Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to accelerate sustainability efforts, optimizing processes, enhancing decision-making, and unlocking innovative solutions. However, AI also raises ethical and sustainability challenges that must be carefully navigated to ensure its responsible and impactful use.

Module 3 has five lessons of about 30 minutes each. The lessons have the following structure:

Lesson 1: Impact of AI in the biosphere and labor

Lesson 2: The Opportunities – AI for Sustainability

Lesson 3: The Dilemmas and Risks – Sustainability of AI

Lesson 4: Reframing Sustainability as a Data and AI problem

Lesson 5: Sustainability innovation implications of Generative AI

Learning Objectives Module 3

• Understand how AI can be leveraged to drive sustainability innovation, from optimizing resource use to improving supply chain efficiency and supporting climate action.

• Explore the ethical considerations of AI, ensuring its application aligns with sustainability goals and avoids unintended negative impacts.

• Discover strategies to integrate AI wisely, making it a force for good within your organization’s sustainability initiatives.

By the end of this module, you’ll have a clear understanding of how to use AI not just as a tool for efficiency but as a driver of ethical and sustainable transformation in your business.
